Fremantle Town Hall Refurbishment

Location: Fremantle Western Australia
Duration: 2016 - 2017
Peak Tonnage: 120
Peak Staff: 11
Sector: Commercial (Heritage)
Solutions: Scaffold management | Labour | Design and engineering | Scaffold equipment | High load long span bridging over lower heritage roof behind clock tower

Fremantle Town hall conservation works involved 120 tonnes of scaffold wrapping for the clock tower and entire building. Due to the heritage nature and a client requirement for all windows and doors to be closed, no anchors to the façade nor through window ties were allowed, resulting in reveal ties and buttress solutions. The rear of the clock tower’s lower non-load bearing roof had 10 levels (20 vertical metres) of scaffold above it that required support from either side of the 12m span. Paragon solved this challenge with Layher Allround Lattice beams and braces. Despite the complexities and the forces of Fremantle Doctor for 11 months, the scaffold stood the test of time without incident. A true testament to our skilled tradesman, quality engineering, thorough regular scaffold inspections and plenty of zip ties on the shade cloth.
